Extensions on Ashford's newer estates

Ashford has grown quickly this century, and many of its homes are on estates built around the edge of the town. On newer estates the original planning permission sometimes removes the usual permitted development rights, so we check what the council allows before an extension or garage conversion is drawn up.

Older homes in Tenterden and the villages

Tenterden's wide high street is lined with listed buildings, and its centre is one of over 40 conservation areas in the borough, along with villages like Wye and Charing. Our background is in stonemasonry, which helps when a new floor or a repair in an older house has to sit well beside what is already there.

Planning in the Ashford borough

Ashford Borough Council decides planning applications here, and work that affects the character of a listed building, inside or out, needs listed building consent. The downs north of the town are in the Kent Downs National Landscape and the south-west of the borough reaches into the High Weald, where planning looks closely at how an extension fits its setting.
